What can you find in the IRIS Union Catalog?
« In the IRIS Union Catalog (called IRS01), composed of over 375,000 titles one can find monographs, journals, rare and early printed books, accademic dissertations, auction catalogs, music scores, offprints, collection-level guide records to photographic archives, non-print media (microfiche, microfilms, CD-ROMs, videos, sound recordings), a significant number of in-analytics (records for individual articles from a number of specialized journals and conference proceedings), and electronic resources (web-sites accessible via an external link). This list, while representing the complete patrimony of each of the partnering libraries, is constantly being updated with new titles.
In addition to searching the entire catalog one can focus the search by selecting a specific IRIS library. On this page, by means of a pull-down menu ("Base to search"), it is possible to limit the search to the library pre-selected.
Each library is identified by a 3-letter code which serves to specify which library (or libraries) own the requested title.

Limit search to:

Format: Year from: Year to: yyyy (Use ? for truncation when not using from/to)

Search hints:

Hint If you choose Yes for "Words adjacent," you can type in the phrase sculpture italian and the system will understand that you want only records that have the word sculpture NEXT to the word italian.

Hint Lower-case letters will find matches of capitalized words also. For example, italy will find matches for italy, Italy and ITALY.

Hint You may use the Boolean operators AND, OR and NOT in your search string. For example, you could type painting or sculpture to retrieve all records having painting or sculpture in them.

Hint Use the ? wildcard character to find matches that contain portions of words. For example, rom? will retrieve Roma, Romani, romantic, romantici, etc. In another example, ?ologia will retrieve antologia, archeologia, astrologia, filologia, etc. The ? character may also be used to find variant spellings. For example, catalo?s will find both the American spelling, catalogs, and the British spelling, catalogues.

Hint Special note for searching by Date of sale. Type the date of sale in this format: yyyymmdd.
Examples:
19650924  → year, month, day certain
188103?  → year, month certain
